Nathan and Kaitlyn loved a morning they spent painting, gluing and stamping together.
Tristan went on a field trip to the Zoo Overnight… he was the last one asleep and the first one awake… sounds about right! He had a good time.
The kids got some mail and sent some mail too. Always exciting!
My superhero “Superboy” showed up to help clean up the house one morning… but why can’t it stay looking clean for more than 15 minutes?
We built all kinds of towers and castles.
Towers with patterns, towers of size, towers of numbers…
And Kaitlyn began measuring ingredients all by herself for some favorite recipes to make Family Night treats or lunch box cookies. She shows a lot of confidence in the kitchen for a 5 year old.
Yay! We rode bikes outdoors. Kaitlyn loves to race from one end to the other of her designated area. Nathan never makes it too far from home and prefers to scoot himself along using feet on the ground instead of peddles.
Nathan seemed confused one day a little conflicted between being “Baker Boy” or “Mr. Fixit” when he sported a power drill in his apron while the “Queen of the Night” showed up in her cape with a large dragon right in the middle of the living room. Where is my “Magic Flute” anyway? And Nathan enjoyed stacking shapes on rods.
Woooo! Hoooooo! Motor cycle riding down the little hill next to the garage.
Peaches! 19 of them but can we keep the bugs and squirrels away?
The sand box was a favorite whether the day was cool or hot and the wetter the sand the better!
Some baths were taken early in the day. We turned the tub into a sandbox on at least one occasion.
All four cats took to napping together on the same bed in the early afternoon.
Scruffles is such a cutie and is nearly always right by Spooky’s side.
Sandy took to disappearing in the afternoons and staying out all night with her “boyfriend” before coming home to sleep off whatever adventures she was finding. (I don’t like this). Spooky tried to keep cool as the temperatures warmed and the humidity rose… hard to do with long dark fur.
There were Pack Meetings for the Cub Scouts at a local park with a hot dog roast.
Swinging at the park was so much fun.

We took a tool box full of “pieces”, fit them together trying out different configurations like a puzzle.
We drilled and figured and tried and drilled some more. We took apart mistakes
and tried again until we achieved building an airplane with a spinning propeller, a race car and
also a motor cycle. Then we took everything apart and decided to build them once again the next day.
Looking at that pile of pieces was just as daunting (to me) as it was the first time. But we did it. I think I should have spent more time doing puzzles as a child but now I get to put things together with my kids. Their spatial relations and math skills are pretty good.
“Take your children to work” day was especially exciting for Kaitlyn this year and she did very well with Rick all day. Tristan had a little more trouble but enjoyed his day out of his own classroom. Nathan stayed home with me… he wasn’t ready for the experience yet.
Sandy still loves water and is interested in pre-cleaning dishes in the kitchen daily.
Spooky still tries to hide in his cube and “pop” out at people or other cats.
Nathan enjoyed stacking and matching colorful shapes.
And that’s what it looked like around our house this month.
