Memorial Day and My Birthday

We celebrated both at home… Rick was preparing to go to China in just a few days, some of the younger kids were already missing him and so we wanted some quiet family time.

We enjoyed our space on the deck and out in the yard.

For dessert there were red, white and blue cupcakes that looked prettier than they tasted.

The kids wanted me to make a birthday cake for myself so they helped.

I tried a ghost cake and I decided I really like it in cupcake form only.  The kids said I should have a balloon cake and I like how it turned out.  I love being creative for the kids but have a harder time with just myself.  I like their ideas.

Before Rick left for China he surprised me with flowers.

There was a string recital; Tristan in 4th grade on cello and Kaitlyn’s very first recital, can you tell by the look on her face?

Week With Cousins

Given that these pics were taken 10 months ago now, I will say very little here.  We had a great visit with my sister and her two boys.  Here are some pictures from things we did and places we went that week in May.

I love this picture on the left.  It looks like “Sunbonnet Sue” only it’s two sweet little boy cousins.

Right before it was time to go home the kids hit the popsicles and mud one last time!  Baths all around before waving goodbye.
