The Pumpkin Patch

Each year we like to visit this Pumpkin Patch a week or so before Halloween.  Each of the kids picks a “little spooky” and Rick and I pick out a big one which becomes our Jack-O-Lantern.  These make great decorations for our front porch and we eat all of the pumpkins through November, except for the one we carve for Halloween.

Which pumpkin should I pick?

The wagon ride out to the patch is fun.

The boys find their pumpkin.

The girls are still working on it.

Kaitlyn smiles as she finds a tiny green pumpkin.

Nathan is enjoying this “Charlie Brown” morning.   He even found a rock!

Rick, Haley, Nathan, Lindsay, Kaitlyn & Tristan pose for a school bus picture.  I like that we have a full bus.

There are ponies to visit.  Lindsay is the first one over there.  She dreams of living in the country some day.

The rest of the kids join her and Nathan is enamored.  Their noses are soft.

My five children pose as five farm animals.  Nathan’s favorite noise to make lately is the “oinking” of a little pig.  He should have switched with Kaitlyn.

Nathan goes back for a visit with the pony again.

How big is this guy???  Nathan wonders at his size.

We dash over to the corn maze to see if we can make it through.

Rick and I are outnumbered and inevitably we lose one of the youngest; Kaitlyn.  She found another family to tag along with and they helped her find us as we called for her.

Nathan finds another rock and a tickle tree.  Lindsay found a sea shell???

A straw maze is fun to climb through in a nearby shed.  It is full of nooks to hide in.

A hand!!!

Each year we take the kids pictures next to this pumpkin for probably 10+ years now.  It’s fun to see how they’ve grown.

I’d say Haley has reached my height now.  Occasionally she looks taller than me when she wears heels; something I rarely wear anymore.  Comfort and practicality are too important to me now.

Kaitlyn plays inside of this little house as we pick out our final large pumpkin and purchase some fresh farm produce.

Nathan is impressed with Trucks these days.  Dad gives him a ride.

Lindsay has saved some pocket money to purchase some candy for herself.

DSCN0263 DSCN0262

We find a picnic table behind the little farm store perfect for pouring fresh apple cider to have with our homemade baked doughnuts.  Both are delicious!

YUM!

What a fun morning!  Now back to the car so we can get Dad back so he can get to work on time.

Our pumpkins look perfect on our front porch… a great way to spruce up the front for the season.
