At the recital, Tristan poses for a photo with his cello choir which he has been playing in since the beginning of this school year. It is a small group that has met every other Thursday after school and he has enjoyed the experience of playing in a group and under the direction of this volunteer conductor. Tristan is finishing his second year learning the cello and has taken private lessons before and during school once a week since Kindergarten.
Initially Tristan chose to play this instrument because it was “big and deep”. Now that he has to carry it he can’t figure out why he is playing something so large. I told him my Dad’s theory on musical instruments…
You should either play the piccolo or the piano.
One you carry in your back pocket and the other is always supplied and waiting for you. No worries!
Tristan did a wonderful job playing as a beginner and we ALL really enjoyed hearing him play. Tristan had the biggest fan club in the room.
Great job Tristan! I loved being able to hear a few clips of you playing. I have to admit, it was really nice that my flute fit in my backpack. But the sound of the cello is beautiful. We have a friend who just got her doctorate in cello performance from Eastman. So there you go, you can do great things with the cello.
