Spring Babies

After dropping off my three older children at school this morning I decided it was nice enough to drive a little farther and spend some time in the fresh air at the farm with my own babies so they could explore the world of the early farm babies.  We were pleased to find a few.  It was a bit chilly outdoors, but hey!  It’s March!  We had a nice morning and I’m glad spring is finally near.

The chicken’s here run free.  More about them in a few minutes.  We spied some friendly little ponies.  They came right over to the children and really surprised Nathan when he looked up to find he was face to face with one of these creatures.  Their noses were super soft.

These two had fun climbing up on a hay bale and jumping down again.

More chickens!  There is a rule not to “chase” the chickens.  In Nathan’s case I’d say he was just following them, briskly at times, but not chasing.  He wandered after them, back and forth, calling “Ducks!  Ducks!  Ducks!”  It was pretty funny.

Inside the barn we found soft bunnies, a couple of shy calves, some very young goats, or kids, and outdoors there were turkeys, llamas, sheep and horses as well as ducks.

We ended with a stop at the playground.  Nathan was very good at climbing up to the highest twirly slide all alone now and loved the ride down.  Kaitlyn had a good time following after him.  After an hour running around in the cold morning air the kids were ready to head home for some warm tomato soup for their lunch.
