2010 Pinewood Derby

The Pinewood Derby isn’t just for boys, at least in our ward. The Cub Scouts have invited our same age girls to participate with them for the past two years and the girls have just as much fun with it. Lindsay and her dad made and painted her car last weekend. The races were Tuesday night, January 26th.

The car got it’s wheels put on right before the race. Graphite works best. Teflon doesn’t work at all, FYI.

Kaitlyn found the Bishop and got him to read her a story from the chapter book which she brought. This amused her while waiting for everyone to make adjustments and weigh in.

The “Purple People Eater”, #17, weighed in at exactly 5 oz. and was ready to go.

The countdown made Nathan jump every time but he was enthralled with the cars.

Kaitlyn got a turn to yell the countdown and Tristan got to bring the flag down as well.

There they go! Tristan cannot wait to do this himself, next year.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Michael,Tristan, Madeline and Peter are Pinewood Racer Wannabe’s.

While most kids eagerly watched at the side of the track, Kaitlyn enjoyed walking around holding hands with her friend Madeline, whom she knows from playgroup on Friday mornings.

Here are the participating AD girls for this year. They are Lauren, Cassidy, Sarah, Megan, Lindsay and Miciah. Several did not participate.

 

 

 

Afterwards, there were cookies for refreshments and Lindsay had her blue ribbon for participation.

Good sportsmanship made it a fun evening for all.
