All About December

December was such a busy busy month.  I tried to capture some of the everyday things we did around home and town.

We got out the trains at home and made tracks around the living room.  We tried to teach Nathan that trains drive on tracks!!!  Maybe next year.

The kids made some amazing balancing acts.

Then there were trips to the Museum Center all decked out for the holidays.  Early in the month we went to play with balls and dolls.

Nathan and Kaitlyn both became veterinarians and took good care of the cats and dogs there.

Kaitlyn hurried about with the cats in her white coat while Nathan donned his uniform and checked out the X-Rays of the animal’s bones.

We checked out how children in other countries live… what they eat, wear and where they sleep.

We made lots of music…LOUD music.

Nathan loved the large Legos after watching Tristan so often as well as the sand table.

With snow on the ground all month Nathan had room to cruise.

Here there was a huge sandbox to play in.  Kaitlyn took off her shoes to get the full experience.

He loved pressing the button to make the rattle snake rattle it’s tail… then he would run.  And coloring Christmas pictures with Kaitlyn was great too.

Back at home Nathan especially spent a bit of time each day playing with the Little People Nativity.  He carried around Baby Jesus continually.  He liked pressing the button to see the star light up and hear the music play.

Both kids made buildings with the blocks and Nathan began stacking 4 or 5 at a time before squealing with delight as he knocked them down again.

There were kitties to play with, of course.

And there tales to tell with the felt board.  Kaitlyn can be a wonderful story teller and this one was about the old lady who swallowed a bell.  “I don’t know why she swallowed a bell… I wish she’d tell” is what Kaitlyn sang in her story telling here.

There were so many Christmas books to read and puppet shows to put on.

There was the snow to look at, a first sledding trip downhill in a nearby park to take and there were bells to ring.

Cats to cuddle and batter to lick from all the cookies we made and gave to teachers and friends.

There was music to practice, vocal and instrumental concerts to attend at two schools, letters and cards to write, of course stockings to hang and days to count.  We were the BEST kind of busy.
