Afternoon at the Museum Center

This afternoon I took Nathan and Kaitlyn to the Children’s Museum at the Cincinnati Museum Center.  There are three museums at this neat old train station dating back to the Depression Era but there was only time to hit one of them today.

Nathan is tiny next to this huge animal’s skull.

Kaitlyn  enjoyed putting together some layered puzzles.

The fish tank was at eye level for Nathan.  Perfect!

Kaitlyn went “shopping” for groceries at the mini market.

Then she had a tea party in the kitchen with another little girl.

Nathan just chased a bowl around on the kitchen floor.  He thought that was quite entertaining.

In “Little Sprouts” Nathan discovered his reflection in the mirror.  He must have spent 10 minutes or longer trying to figure this out. 

Seeing “baby” made him quite happy.  Seeing Mommy was a little confusing since there seemed to be two of us, one of whom he couldn’t get to.  He enjoyed smiling and reaching out to touch that baby in the mirror.  You could see him pondering on how to get into that other world.

Nathan enjoys these beads until Kaitlyn was ready to move on.

Water play was the last area we visited, for obvious reasons.  We did get the water apron snapped all the way down before anything drastic happened.

Nathan was tired and content to rest on my lap until we had to dry a shoe with a blow dryer over on the wall. 

Walking out of the museum, we see downtown.  Haley’s school is a couple of miles straight ahead right downtown.

This is the scene to the left of downtown.  Lindsay and Tristan need to be picked up at school a few miles away in this direction.  The old location for their school was a neat old castle-like building from the 1800’s on the top of the hill right under that tower.   I will have to get a picture of that sometime.  The new building is in a wonderful neighborhood but doesn’t have any of the old charm.

This is the scene to the right of the museum.  The Ohio River is this direction and you can see Kentucky in the background.  Kaitlyn and Nathan enjoyed their afternoon and are ready for a nap in the car during pick up rounds.
