Each summer Lindsay’s orchestra holds an informal picnic and takes the opportunity to have a little fun playing some of their favorite pieces of music. Not everyone shows up because, well, it’s summer! For the second year we held the picnic in the backyard of one of Lindsay’s classmates who lives in the same neighborhood as the school; central to everyone. I am not the only one with house envy this time… this is a beautiful old home at the end of a quiet no outlet street at the top of a hill.
My kids are excited about the tire swing in the front yard.
The kids enjoyed sno-cones made in the garage by the older kids while the instruments got tuned up.
The orchestra members just played a few of their favorite pieces… Lindsay’s very last time playing with this group.
Haley enjoyed the recital from the comfort of the hammock with some other girls about her age.
Lindsay played one song in a 6th grade trio with a couple of her friends. Her conductor then recognized her four 6th grade students, announced what various schools they will be attending starting this fall and presented them with a gift of a metronome for their continued studies in music. After that we enjoyed a backyard picnic with plenty of food and desserts, each family bringing a dish to share or in my case, two dishes to share. It was a nice evening filled with friends, good food and always… music.
