We Believe in Happily Ever After…

The theme for Girl’s Camp this year was “We Believe in Happily Ever After”.  The girls had many spiritual experiences through the week centered around temple blessings and the 13th Article of Faith.    There was also plenty of fun and friends.

Haley and Lindsay returned home Saturday exhausted & sun-kissed but with so many stories to tell of friends, adventures, new songs, BIG bugs and experiences of all kinds.  While they were in desperate need of a good soak in the tub both of them had their hair beautifully done in french braids. 

 

Kaitlyn’s reaction to having her sisters come home again was a mixed bag.  She discovered while they were gone that she really liked having her own room.  It was the first time she’d ever had a room to herself and I hoped that she hadn’t been spoiled too badly.  Getting your own room around here isn’t viewed as a positive thing and usually comes in the form of a threat (not a treat).  My older girls tend to disturb sleeping children with lights and creaky steps as they have different bedtimes and wake-up times and that is what Kaitlyn was relieved at not dealing with.  I encourage closet reading with the door shut after bedtime, if it must be done.  Kaitlyn will eventually have her own room and I reminded her of that sad fact.

Lindsay came home with the “side-by-side” award for being buddies to the latrine so many times.  Haley came home with the “musical entertainer” award because on their high adventure trip horseback riding in the next state over, the “hillbilly” farmer (I’m sure this was just meant to describe the accent) asked if anyone could play the guitar.  Haley volunteered that she could play the violin and he went and handed her his beloved “fiddle”.  She blew his 10 gallon (truly the stereotypical) cowboy hat right off of him.

After cleaning up, the girls donned their matching camp shirts and necklaces, the different colors representing their different years.  What a wonderful message to return home with and remember.  And how fun to be able to go at the same time as your very own sister.
