The humidity briefly released it’s grip on us Thursday and so we threw open the windows and headed to the park for a hike and a picnic.
Most of us had never been to this trail before. Tristan had partially taken this walk last month at Scout Camp when Rick discovered it.
The trail was cool & pleasant through the woods… no sunscreen needed.
We always stop to look at caterpillars. Nathan thinks they tickle.
We climbed off the trail a little and hopped down into the stream bed. This is one of my kids favorite ways to spend time.
The creek bed is full of fossils… very common to this area close to the Ohio. The children loved finding fossils. The hunting wasn’t difficult. The kids are all drawn to the rocks and Rick will tell you they get that from me. They can’t help themselves. I have a special affinity for interesting rocks and always have.
My kids would take a vacation just to play in the creek and find rocks. They filled their pockets with all types; even Nathan.

Back to the creek bed past sunny summer wild flowers gazing at the sunshine as we looped around the trail.
There are wetlands below to view after Nathan & Lindsay rest on their couch.
These three perfectly fit onto a bench carved like a lincoln log. They needed a rest.
And when we finished the hike we found a shady place for our picnic lunch of peanut butter and fresh peaches. Mmmm! Delicious! It was a wonderful day to spend outdoors and so we grabbed it while we could.
