This morning was beautiful so we decided after a 9 a.m. cello lesson that we would skip a week at the library and head to the park instead.
We saw many things on our 2 mile walk. Lots of people, lots of dogs and lots of other interesting things.
We spotted some Canada Geese and heard them honking and playing in the water.
We even spotted one lone sea gull. He must have been lost because the only ones around here are in the zoo.
Isn’t it funny to be standing outside in a patch of snow without a coat on???
Kaitlyn decided to help get rid of it by jumping on it and smashing it into the ground.
This is the “Lake” that we walked 2 miles around. Kaitlyn called it a pond this morning as we were heading over the bridge. I have taught her well.
The water still has a thin layer of ice and from atop the bridge looking down we could see many spots where it is cracking from the warmth. Kaitlyn said these looked like BIG spiders. She had a point and we both thought that was kind of scary to think of.
We enjoyed spotting all of the “no fishing” signs and also noticed a horse crossing sign. There were no horses out today; too bad.
When we had nearly completed the loop we found all kinds of geese and ducks reveling in the water and up on land looking for food. Some of them hoped we had brought them a treat…maybe next time. I have fed my back yard squirrels my “extra” bread because I kept seeing them gorge themselves with snow. These birds were having a great time amongst themselves.
At the end of the walk is a playground. Lots of people were there with kids today. The twirly slide is a favorite.
I thought Kaitlyn was selling hot dogs again or maybe even ice cream. But actually she was just handing out money! I asked her if she worked at a bank. No! She was just handing out money.
We still need to learn how things work, but I liked her idea. It might be nice.
I asked Kaitlyn what her favorite thing was at the park today. She said it was climbing. Not sliding, but climbing. And that is probably the truth. She has been climbing things at playgrounds after her brother and sisters since she could first walk and struggle to reach her foot up.
At nearly noon it was time to head back home for sandwiches. Too bad we hadn’t packed our lunch for an early spring picnic.
