Spring Break in a Nutshell

1st weekend: held a birthday party, went for haircuts, went shopping

Monday:  All plans went out window and we cleaned the house, even scrubbing the stairs down to the basement, no dust bunnies anywhere in sight or out of sight… all so someone could see the house.  We finished our grocery shopping, and errands at the post office.  The day was shot!  Word on the house?…the worst yet.

Tuesday:  Yard Work!!!  A pretty day, we had planned to get outdoors.  We finished the back yard AND cleaned the front yard including all the leaves down in the front bushes.  The bikes also got cleaned, oiled, pumped and tested.  Tristan and I headed out for parent-child time and had lunch at Big Boy using his coupon that he earned for reading.  That night was New Beginnings for Haley at church.  The whole family attended.

Wednesday:  We finished cleaning the front yard and got started on the garage bringing out the deck furniture which had been stored for the winter…just in time.  We had 8 kids by lunch time and they had a blast riding bikes, playing tag, legos, whatever.  But 11 of us would have been a squeeze around the lunch table inside.  After sending kids home and retrieving our own again we headed to dinner with Rick’s parents to Don Pablos.  Three of my children have either never been there or at least in one case do not remember being there.

Thursday:  One parent one way and one parent the other…to the pediatrician and to the YMCA for a tumbling class, each with different children.  We met back at home by lunch time and squeezed in our date time going to Skally’s for a greek salad to split and a gyro.  Then we bought an umbrella for our deck (the old one had broken) and to Sam’s Club for 2 sizes of diapers.  Late that afternoon I took Haley out to buy pants with her gift card from her birthday.  After whipping up a quick dinner Rick took the three oldest kids to their first rock concert.  The Trans-Siberian Orchestra had contacted Rick and given him as many free tickets as he wanted.  Picture the story of Beethoven’s last night in rock opera style complete with lots of lasers and a spectacular light show.  Pieces of Beethoven and Mozart and others played hard rock head banger style.  Would my Dad like this?  Hummmm, not sure.  I stayed home with Kaitlyn and Nathan who were not quite ready for this and I did get to talk to my Dad that night.  I was not ready for Tristan to come home and tell me he wants to grow his hair out and play the drums.

Friday:  Got up and packed lunches.  Drove to Indianapolis 2 hours away and spent the day at the Children’s Museum there.  Nathan was grouchy maybe due to the shot he received the day before???  He also has a bit of stranger anxiety suddenly; right on cue. 

Weekend:  Getting stuff done around the house, Cleaning out cars, cooking, laundry and Father-Son time with Tristan.  Haley and I attended the General Young Women Broadcast.  Pres. Uchdorf is hilarious and makes Haley and I giggle in the pew.  Lindsay runs the Heart Mini-Marathon 2K in 9 minutes and 21 seconds… that is 7min. 33 seconds per mile.   She is in the top 5 females to cross the finish line in her division and overall out of 88 females.  She was 19th to cross the finish line out of 148 finishers.   She was Fantastic!

It was nice to have a break from school.  It was still incredibly busy but not the same kind of busy.  One more quarter to go till summer break in less than two months.
